Tonbridge History

Tonbridge then and now: Barden Road

Floods were a frequent occurrence in low-lying parts of the town, such as Barden Road, though the occupants of the house in Gladstone Road, on the left, appear to have escaped this time. The flood risk receded after the completion of the Leigh Flood Barrier in 1982, and riverside flats, like the block in the 'now' photo, became much sought after.
